Escents is our most versatile scent device, but it isn’t always the right one.
The technology behind Escents was designed to be modular. We can take the same scent delivery system and build it into a form factor that makes sense (and scents!) for the experience. Whether that means integrating scent into a museum exhibit, a theme-park seat, a piece of furniture, a handheld object or something entirely custom.
That might be a one-off prototype for a specific experience, or a manufacturable product designed to be deployed across multiple locations.
For installations where the hardware needs to disappear into the experience, at Scentient Studio we design the scent system around the project rather than designing the project around the device.

How we work
1. Free consultation
Thirty minutes to understand what you are making and whether we are the right people for it.
2. Scoping call
A longer conversation about the detail. What the finished experience should feel like, who the audience is, where it lives, what already exists, and how involved you want us to be. This is where the project takes shape.
3. Quote and scope
We send a formal quote and a written scope. You know what you are getting, what it costs and what we need from you.
4. Design
Scent palette, cue timing, intensity curves, transitions and clearance. If hardware is being made for you, industrial design begins here in parallel.
5. Production
We build. Depending on the scope this includes filming, development, scent formulation, hardware manufacture and integration.
6. Delivery
The finished experience, installed, tested and handed over with everything your team needs to run it.

Yes. We regularly work alongside client side teams, agencies and technical suppliers, and can take on as narrow or as broad a remit as suits.

It depends on scope and whether custom hardware is involved. We usually have a rough idea of timing after the initial call and give an indicative timeline with the formal quote after the scoping call.

Studio projects are quoted individually, because the range is wide. A single scent cue added to an existing installation is a different piece of work from a full production with custom hardware. Scent experience design assistance is fixed at £500 for three sessions, and the initial consultation is free.
